A lot of people have misconceptions of apprenticeships, simply because they don't really know much about what they entail of, or how they work.
Many individuals choose an apprenticeship over going to university as they prefer a more practical, hands on experience. Essentially, you're working towards a qualification whilst gaining first hand experience, so you're getting the best of both worlds! Apprenticeships are also great to gain access and build connections within the sector you want to work in.
There are many reasons that apprenticeships are an amazing path to go down. You're getting a head start in your chosen profession and receiving guidance and support throughout every step of the way. You'll feel extremely accomplished when you achieve your qualification at the end of your course, and you've also been given the chance to earn money whilst learning and studying. To qualify for an apprenticeship, you must meet the following criteria:
be aged 16+ at the time of enrolment
be a UK or European Economic Area (EEA), or have lived in the UK or EEA for the past three consecutive years
not already be in full-time education at the point of enrolment
not already hold a qualification at the same level or above in the same area that you wish to study
