This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. MCC Digital support MHAW as we understand the importance of mental health in and out of the workplace.
So, what is Mental Health Awareness Week about?
Around 1 in 4 people will experience a Mental Health problem each year, and only 1 in 6 of them people will ask for help. Mental Health Awareness Week is to teach and let people know that it is okay to ask for help no matter what the problem is. It’s important to have people to talk to. There are always people ready to help for example, family, friends, colleagues, doctors, or even mental health services online.
This year, the focus of Mental Health Awareness Week is Anxiety. Anxiety is a feeling of worry that can be either mild or severe. Everyone has a feeling of anxiety at some point in their life, whether it’s for a test or a job interview, we all get worried and fear the unknown but, it is crucial that you talk to someone about these feelings so they can put you at ease.
Here at MCC Digital, we care and look out for those who struggle with their Mental Health. We have a member of staff who is undertaking a Mental Health First Aider course so that someone on site is available to support the team and any Mental Health concerns that may arise.
We also love putting on activities on breaks and dinners for anyone to join. These activities are usually themed like, at Easter we had an Easter Egg Hunt (which everyone loved) and at Christmas, we decorated Gingerbread Men and we also painted Christmas tree decorations. These activities bring everybody together and allows lus all to have a bit of fun and take a break from our workspace. We understand that sitting at a desk all day can get repetitive, that is why we have a break out space that anyone can go and take some time to work quietly should they need it. There are comfy sofas there so you are able to chill, and you can even say “hi” to our friendly fish who live there.
Not only do we have internal activities but, we also have activities outside of work hours. We like saying “Thank you” to our employees for all their hard work by taking everyone out on work social events. These are completely optional, but we love when everyone comes. Our next one is arriving very soon in July so keep your eyes peeled to see where we end up.
The overall subject of this Blog post is to raise awareness for Mental Health and to help you know who you can contact when you’re feeling a little bit low.
