How many years have you worked in the industry?
“I started working within the technology sector in the late ’90s. I’ve worked for several resellers since then and was privileged to work at Apple for almost a decade in various roles. I joined MCC Digital in 2017 and now lead our Education Team.”
What responsibilities do you have?
“I’m responsible for the customer experience of our education customers and lead a talented team who help to deliver this. I work with colleagues to ensure that our offering to educational institutions is going to meet their needs and deliver real impact to teaching and learning.”
What does a typical day look like for you?
“The thing I love most about this role is there is no typical day! I thoroughly enjoy going out to see how our customers are utilising these great tools in classrooms and working with them to plan their next steps. Recently, I had a great conversation with a Year One student at a school in Yorkshire telling me how pleased he was to be achieving accolades for his achievements in literacy on his class device. I just wish we’d had these engaging resources when I was at school”.
What are the benefits of incorporating technology into the classroom?
“Education technology helps to streamline processes, save time and facilitate more creative expression in the classroom. Introducing the right devices and applications can save your teaching staff valuable time. Pupils love technology and they pick it up easily, the impact technology has on pupil engagement is staggering and it’s great to see the results. What are your goals for MCC Digital's education department over the next 12 months?
“As we move into a new academic year, our goal is to engage with more schools, academies, and colleges and to keep growing our education team. I’m sure our partners will introduce many more exciting products and educational content to support teaching and learning over the coming months. Me and my team want to share this with as many new customers as possible!”
Tell us something interesting about yourself.
“I moved to North Wales in 2019 and I tried very hard to develop my Welsh pronunciation! In my spare time, it’s great to get out and enjoy the beautiful Welsh scenery and explore castles, beaches, and mountains with my three grandsons. When the weather is against us, we’ll be found on the PlayStation.”
