Inside The Event - Coding in the Classroom
Wow, what a week! And it’s only Thursday…
Today we hosted another amazing event. We returned to Regional Training Centre, Alderley Edge, for another engaging afternoon of workshops, this time for our Coding Event. Our partners at Sphero joined us to display their products, and together we were able to introduce the Computing Toolkits we offer here at MCC
Richard started off the afternoon by reviewing the ‘Everyone Can Code’ programme. This is an amazing curriculum, launched by Apple in 2016, that teaches children coding through a world of interactive puzzles and playful characters. The best part? It uses the same language as professional app developers, so it’s the perfect way to introduce coding to children of all ages and abilities.
The afternoon continued with our partners at Sphero introducing their ‘Sphero Indi’ robot. This robot is designed for younger learners and inspires imaginative, early learning. Shortly after, they explained the idea behind their company and discussed ‘Sphero Bolt’ with attendees. The BOLT robot is Sphero’s most advanced robotic ball to date, you can drive and code the robot and it provides endless ideas whilst teaching coding at the same time.
Everyone was amazed by both robots which is no surprise, they’re fabulous! The workshops were so engaging and interactive, they went down an absolute treat with our guests.
We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to the events this week. There was a great turn out for both, and it was great to see everyone getting so involved and enjoying everything we’ve organised! A special thank you to Alderley Edge School for Girls for being so kind and allowing us to use their venue.
Keep an eye out for more MCC events coming soon!
If you’d like to work with us and organise your own experience, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re always happy to help.
