Developed in collaboration with Liverpool Hope University, MATS is a fun, interactive, Multiple Activity Training System designed to help people of all ages and abilities to get involved in physical education.

The unique multi player dance system comprises of fourteen colourful dance mats connected to a screen, white board or projector via an Apple Mac computer. Each player stands on their own mat and must follow a pre-set dance step routine to music, in order to score. Players must correctly place their feet on the sections of the mat which correspond to the image on the screen at the same time following the beat of the sound track.

Whilst the emphasis is on fun and involvement, there are some really excellent benefits in owning the Mats system not least because it’s a great way for children to get involved in physical exercise; it helps to improve fitness levels, balance, coordination, concentration and rhythm whilst encouraging disengaged children to interact at a noncompetitive level.

Suitable for all ages and levels from beginner to advanced, the MATS package offers users a more fun and a more bespoke product than any dance mat system before it. With the ability to load any song from your collection into the system, MATS gives users the opportunity to dance to their own beat. In addition, to add a whole new dimension in dance with the MATS system’s built in Garageband ™ musical plug-in, you can create and export your own music into the game.

Finally for even more control over the dances created we supply the MATS Dance Editor which allows users to easily choreograph their own dance creations. Dance Editor allows you to;
• Use any track from your library
• Dance to your Garageband ™ creations
• Choreograph your own dances with the MATS dance editor
• Create your own varying degrees of speed and skill.

Case study
‘The M.A.T.S. system is easy to operate, and it’s now enjoyed by students of all ages across a wide range of sports, dance, music and recreational disciplines. Whilst it’s great fun to use, it has many benefits including helping to develop coordination skills. We use it at least three times a day; for PE, Dance, music, PSHE and during after school clubs, M.A.T.S. continues to form an integral part of the College’s sports education programme.’
